Leasing your property through Calon means that you are helping vulnerable people and families secure a temporary home. The scheme offers long term residential leases to private landlords which are then let by the Local Authority to people who are homeless or having other difficulties finding a home.
Part of Cadwyn Housing Association, we have been managing temporary accommodation on behalf of the Local Authorities in Cardiff, Blaenau Gwent and Merthyr Tydfil through innovative working partnerships since 2009.

How it works
Landlords are offered a guaranteed rental income for the duration of the contract, paid monthly in arrears. The rent payable is generally between 10 to 15 % less than a market rent, but this reduction is counteracted by guaranteed rent to the landlord, irrespective of any void periods or rent arrears.
The local authority will provide Calon with prospective tenants for all available properties and tenants generally stay in the property for around 8 months until they secure permanent accommodation. We have accommodation all across the city so tenants have an increased chance of finding a home in an area they want.
Calon will undertake all tenancy management functions, such as rent collection, repairs, relets, inspections and court proceedings as part of the service which you will not be charged for, it’s all part of our hassle free service.
Landlords remain responsible for all structural and external repairs and fixtures and fittings. We can even provide quotes and contractors to undertake landlord repairs to make it even easier.
